New technologies land at Avgvstvs Forvm! At the beginning of this year, our winery has undergone a significant transformation with the recent installation of a Meteorological Station at the Penedes winery. The objective, the improvement and modernisation of agricultural practices, raising our work to a higher level and integrating cutting-edge tools with the aim of enhancing sustainability and improving efficiency in the production of our wines.
The alliance between winemaking tradition and technology is essential to ensure a higher quality of our wines. For this reason, at Avgvstvs Forvm. we have always been committed to incorporating new tools, such as the use of weather stations. This innovative element allows us to obtain direct information on weather conditions, enabling us to make informed decisions and anticipate changes that affect our vineyards.
In this way, the Weather Station at the Penedes winery offers us multiple advantages. From data on local weather conditions, which allow our winegrowers to adjust irrigation, prevent diseases and frost to avoid losing the harvest and optimise the grape harvest, among others.
This marriage of tradition and technology is the key to maximising efficiency and improving the quality of our Penedes wines.
In our constant research to improve agricultural practices, we are also fully committed to the strategic use of Mulching, an initiative led by Avgvstvs Forvm viticulturist Oriol Roca to optimise water management in our vineyards.
This method is a good option to combat the drought that Catalonia is currently experiencing and pushes us to find new ways of cultivating vines and the production of our Penedes wines. To make them more sustainable, as it not only conserves soil moisture, but also reduces erosion, creating an optimal environment for the development of the plants.
On the other hand, we are renewing some of the vineyards by planting Garnatxa, Chardonnay and Malvasia de Sitges. Varieties that are holding up well. Before planting, we prepare the land by subsoiling all the soil, ensuring an ideal environment for the growth of new plants, consolidating our vision of a more resilient wine-growing future.
