A tour of the different releases the first half of 2023 has left for us in our winery. Discover the new vintages of our wine varieties and those that will arrive in the coming months!

As every year, the first half of the year is the time when our winery presents more wines and new vintages. And this year has been no different. Now that we are approaching the halfway point of 2023, it is a good time to review some of the novelties that 2023 has left us in the winery and also some hints of what is to come.
If we are talking about young wines, at the beginning of the year the new vintages of Primer Rosat, Primer Blanc and Primer Negre are usually released. Some years they have even been released before the end of the year, although this has not been the case with this latest vintage that we have presented. At the moment we already have on sale the 2022 vintage of Primer Blanc and Primer Rosat and the 2021 vintage of Primer Negre.
One of our most successful and eagerly awaited Penedès wines is Avgvstvs Chardonnay, a wine that we had sold out since the end of the year and of which we were able to present the 2022 vintage in mid-March. This wine is our flagship, the best-selling wine of the house for 33 years. Avgvstvs is many varieties, many wines, but above all Avgvstvs is Chardonnay. Another of the house’s emblematic wines is Avgvstvs Trajanvs, of which the new 2018 vintage was also released in the first half of the year. A reserve wine with a long life ahead of it. And let’s not forget the Avgvstvs Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot, of which the 2020 vintage will be released shortly, bottled at the end of the year.

And speaking of reserves, we must highlight the Avgvstvs Antigues Reserves 1999, recently released on the market. A wine that has waited 23 years for our customers to finally taste it. Despite the long ageing in bottle, it is still a wine full of life, where we can find all the complex notes resulting from the long evolution of the varieties that make it up (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc).
Without leaving the Antigues Reserves, these days we have also put on sale the 582 bottles of the Avgvstvs Chardonnay Antigues Reserves. A clear proof that our Chardonnays evolve fantastically in the bottle for several years.
It is also worth mentioning the Microvinifications, of which during the months of May, June and July we will be able to offer the new vintages of the successful Malvasia de Sitges (the 2022), the Xarel·lo Vermell (2020) and the Ull de Llebre (2020). In autumn we may have some more, such as the Garnacha Negra (2022). In the meantime, we can continue to enjoy the Xarel·lo de Mar, of which we currently have the 2016 vintage, the Xarel·lo +100 from 2019 and the Macabeu 2017, three ageing whites that evolve very well in the bottle.
As you can see, at Avgvstvs in the first half of the year there is a lot of movement. From the line of the youngest and freshest wines (Primers), through the classic Avgvstvs, the Antigues Reserves for lovers of great wines for ageing, and the microvinifications where we show several vineyards made in different ways and materials.
From August onwards, at the winery in El Vendrell, we will be working again on the grape harvest and the new wines. This year the drought is important and every day we pray for rain so that the fruit from our vineyards can arrive in the best conditions to be able to make, once again, great wines.
